The pillars of the new program of the Sabará Group business unit are centered on connecting, conserving, respecting, encouraging and promoting

São Paulo, May 2022 – A business unit of Sabará Group specialized in natural and technological solutions for various sectors of the industry, Concepta Ingredients has just launched the Bio Abundance Program, which reinforces its commitment to guaranteeing the complete traceability of raw materials from the Amazon forest and other Brazilian biomes.
The initiative is based on five pillars: connecting people in a virtuous value chain between the forest's wealth and the market; keep the standing forest; respect the peoples and communities that inhabit it; encourage the use of ingredients from Brazilian biomes; and promote socioeconomic inclusion and the reduction of social inequality.

Based on the engagement of communities, cooperatives and supplier associations, the Bio Abundance Program comes in search of enhancing an action that is already ongoing at Concepta Ingredients. “The organic ingredients we offer are supported by training families and conservation in different biomes in Brazil, contributing to the indirect maintenance of about 1.5 million hectares of forest through the valorization of non-timber forest products”, explains Lilia Kawazoe, the business unit's commercial manager.

The executive says that the initiative directly and indirectly involves around 2,800 families involved in the collection and processing of products, including traditional peoples, who find in the activity one more reason to stay in their regions of origin, making it possible to generate income through inputs. “Suppliers are also approached for the sustainable management of extractive activities of natural substances, valuing cooperatives and traditional communities and contributing to the security of biomes and territories”, adds Lilia.

The performance in favor of sustainability and reduction of harmful impacts to the environment was responsible for making Sabará Group CEO, Ulisses Matiolli Sabará, recognized as a SDG Pioneer of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), during the Leaders conference of the Global Compact in 2016. Currently, he represents SDG 15 – Life on Land, for protecting, restoring and promoting the sustainable use of the Earth's ecosystems. Concepta Ingredients, in turn, also has all its work aligned with the values ​​defended by the UN, mainly SDGs 15 - Life on Land and 12 - Responsible Consumption and Production.
